OUR
HISTORY
MORE THAN A BUSINESS, A FAMILY COMMITMENT
In 1979, Ed Kriebel and his son Jim co-founded Kriebel Wells. Since then, three generations
of Kriebel family members have helped expand the company’s commitment to the natural gas industry.

The Start
Ed Kriebel and a former co-worker used their life savings to buy a coal processing plant, forming C&K Coal Company in 1952. Before it was sold, the company grew to become the largest surface mining company in Pennsylvania.
A New Beginning
In August 1972, at the urging of his son Jim, Ed purchased Bruin Drilling Company. That became the Edward G. Kriebel Gas Company, the family project that lives on to this day.
Growth Year
Ed and Jim co-founded the first Kriebel Wells natural gas drilling partnership in 1979 with others who wanted to invest in the drilling.
Moving Forward
Kriebel acquired 257 producing shallow wells in 2020.

Established Partner
Currently Kriebel operates 1,925 natural gas wells in 10 counties in Western Pennsylvania and has 43 full-time employees.
